Understanding Racing Costs and Logistics

Racing Costs

Note: This information applies to Northern California Outrigger Canoe Association (NCOCA) races, which can be viewed on the NCOCA website’s race calendar.

There are two types of races: long-distance and sprint regattas.

  • The fee for long-distance races is $150 per crew per race or $25 per person per race.
  • The fees for sprint regattas are covered by He’e Nalu, so there is no cost to race.

Race fees can be paid directly to He’e Nalu by Venmo, check, or cash before or on race day.

  • Venmo (Hee-Nalu-O-Marin or [email protected])
  • Check (Made out to “Heʻe Nalu O Marin OCC,” mail to 115 3rd St, San Rafael, CA 94901, or hand to race secretary or a director)
Cash (hand to race secretary or a director)

Membership dues pay for your program participation (recreational or competitive). If you do not race, you do not pay the race fee. Depending on the race, a towing fee may be included, usually nominal at $5-10.

Racing Logistics

All members must help load and unload boats before and after the race. The loading and unloading schedules will be posted on TeamSnap, and sign-ups for practice sessions will be the same.
